01 / The Challenge

The Location Made Planning Essential.

SS&L Architects needed architectural photographs at Dannelly Field, home of the 187th Fighter Wing and its F-35A fighter jets. The finished collection needed to show the buildings, the spaces within them, and their relationship to the wider site.

Getting the drone perspective meant working through the complexity of a military-base shoot. Access and flight clearances were a central part of pre-production, before the photography could begin.

02 / Our Approach

Coordinate the Clearances. Then Capture the Design.

For this project, we secured the required clearances with air traffic control, the military, the FAA, and DJI, the drone manufacturer. That coordination supported our Part 107 drone operation at Dannelly Field.

With that groundwork in place, we combined drone photography with ground-level exterior and interior views. HDR photography brought out the architectural materials, light, and details across the spaces.
